(May) Boy Scout Camporee Rescheduled for October 8-10
The event, which was to be held in May, has been rescheduled for October 8-10. This event will be an opportunity for your Scouts to complete some of the centennial merit badges offered only this year. These badges will include signaling, tracking, trailblazing and carpentry.
To ensure that as many Scouts as possible have the opportunity to complete these once-in-a-lifetime merit badges, we have pushed this event back for maximum attendance.

On December 31, 2010, all council units are to have at least 85% of their direct contact leaders basic leader trained in order to recharter. See the

(January) National BSA Raises Traditional Membership Fees $5
Effective January 1, 2010, the traditional membership registration fee for all youth and adults will be $15 rather than its current $10. This change was decided by the national council of the Boy Scouts of America. This increase will affect youth and adults registering in packs, troops, teams and crews, as well as council employees, and council and district volunteers. The entire membership registration fee goes to the National Council and is its primary source of funding.Over the years registration fees have periodically increased to offset inflation and operating cost increases. The last fee increase was seven years ago, and it rose from $7 to $10.
The $15 prorated fee will become effective for traditional membership (recharter, new, additional registration, or other) with an effective date of January 1, 2010 or later. The new prorated fee will be $1.25 per month.
Please note this a national decision, not a Tuscarora Council decision. On behalf of the youth we serve together, thank you for your dedication and support of this council and its programs.
