2010 Family Friends of Scouting Campaign
Friends of Scouting (FOS) is an annual educational and fundraising campaign for the Tuscarora Council. It provides Scout families and volunteers an opportunity to learn more about and support the Council programs and services that benefit their children and other children in the community. The campaign runs through the spring. Donors who give $120 or more will receive a special recognition patch highlighting the "kind" element of the Scout Law. (See above.)
FOS presentations are usually made at unit events such as Blue and Golds or Courts of Honor. A presenter spends a few minutes sharing information. Once the presentation is completed, the presenter will share results with the unit leader and plan follow-up contacts for families who may have missed the opportunity to give. For more information about scheduling your unit presentation, please contact your district executive or FOS chairperson.
Units that participate in both the popcorn sale and Friends of Scouting campaign are eligible to receive special discounts for summer camp. Note: At least 50% of unit parents are required to be in attendance at the FOS presentation in order to qualify.
2009 Trail's End Popcorn and Magazine Recap
Despite a rough economy, Tuscarora Scouts raised more than $390,000 during the 2009 Trail's End Popcorn and magazine sale. Roughly $128,000 went to support council programs and $128,000 went to the individual units. The amount was about 22% less than what was raised last year; however, it still goes a long way in helping provide programs such as camp, scholarships and more. The council wants to give a big thank you to all the units that participated in this event.
Congratulations go out to our top seller, Pack 33, which sold $21,583 worth of popcorn and magazines. Top individual sellers were A.J. from Coharie's Troop 47 ($1,207), Ryan from Neusiok's Pack 33 ($3,549) and James from Torhunta's Pack 12 ($4,057). James was the top seller for the entire council.
