Current Training Opportunities
Leader Specific Training in May and June
Training will be held at the May 1 roundtable meeting for Torhunta and Neusiok
districts and June 5 for Coharie district. Cost is $2 and a training card will
be provided. You can pay at the door.
This session is for those adult leaders and interested parents who are moving up
with their Cubs. In order to be fully trained, each adult Cub leader must
be trained in the specific leader position they are occupying. If you are
trained as a Tiger leader, for example, you must receive the Wolf training in
order to be registered as a Wolf den leader or assistant den leader.

Trainer Development Conference on May 17
Available for Scouters who are interested in being a part of the training
committee or who just want to improve their presentation skills. Any
leader registered as a pack trainer must also attend this training.
Topics include:
- Why we train
- How adults learn
- Characteristics of a good trainer
- Training methods
It will be at Camp Tuscarora. Cost is $10, and lunch will be provided.
Registration begins at 8 a.m. and ends at 3:30 p.m. Contact Mark
Metzler for details.
What Training is Required for
Leaders?
- Cub Scout leaders are considered
trained when they have completed New Leader Essentials and the Cub Scout
Leader Specific training for their position.
- Scoutmasters and assistant Scoutmasters
are considered trained when they have completed New Leader Essentials,
Scoutmaster and Assistant Scoutmaster Leader Specific Training, and
Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills.
- Troop committee members are considered
trained when they have completed New Leader Essentials and the Troop
Committee Challenge as their Leader Specific training.
- Varsity Scout leaders and assistants
are considered trained when they have completed New Leader Essentials,
Varsity Scout Leader Specific Training, and Introduction to Outdoor Leader
Skills.
- Venturing crew Advisors, assistant
Advisors, and crew committee members are considered trained when they
have completed New Leader Essentials and Venturing Leader Specific Training.
